Legal Representation for Weapons Offenses

Weapons Offenses are violations of statutes or regulations that control the possession and use of deadly weapons. Such weapons include firearms, their ammunition, silencers, explosives and certain other restricted items. Federal law regulates the importation, manufacture and distribution of firearms; bans certain other firearms, such as machine guns and certain semiautomatic assault weapons; and prohibits the sale of some firearms to restricted classes of people, including convicted felons, juveniles and certain individuals who have been involved in domestic violence-related situations.

In addition to the Federal laws which regulate such matters, New Jersey has some additional laws which are of the strictest in the country. In fact, New Jersey has codified many of its regulations under Title 2C of the New Jersey Criminal Code, to include a list of Prohibited Weapons and Devices (N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3); the Possession of weapons for Unlawful Purposes (N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4); and the possession of weapons by Certain Persons prohibited by statute or other disqualifier (N.J.S.A. 2C:39-7), to mention just a few.
